This is the
story:
Over the years my
3 children have produced bags of out grown, but not outworn
clothes – too good for the ‘rag bin’, and without a never
ending stream of relatives or friends of the right age or sex
to turn them into hand-me-downs, the attic was bulging. They
were a source of guilt – every time I bought something new I
thought of the ever-growing pile, but at the same time, was
reluctant to give some of them up – I remembered the birthday
parties and the family holidays in which they had featured !
Discussions with
friends told me that I wasn’t the only one – it felt wrong to
be consuming ever more when we all had perfectly good clothes
stashed away – they just needed the right homes! I couldn’t
work out why I was happy to buy ‘vintage’ clothes for myself –
but hardly ever considered doing the same for my children.
My aim in Little
Vintage is to change all that..
A Little Vintage
sale is different.
The clothes are
appealing – carefully washed and ironed, they are presented as
something to be cherished
The clothes have a
story to tell – wouldn’t you love to know what parties that
beautiful vintage dress has been to? – Some of our clothes
will come with their own ‘story’ – just waiting for your
child to add the next chapter - all you need is a little
imagination.
Nothing is wasted
– we have a range of hand made soft furnishings and gifts
fashioned from the ‘not so gently worn’ items in the attic –
their story takes a new turn!
And the best thing
is that there is no damage to the environment – quite the
reverse, by buying an item from the Little Vintage sales you
are contributing to the well being of your own children, and
to that of those less fortunate – all proceeds from the sales
go directly to Coram Family (www.coram.org.uk)
– to help in
their work with vulnerable children.
Please help us to
help the children!
